Home Standby Generator Installation in Point roberts

HOME GENERATORS

standby generators installed, permitted and connected, so the lights stay on when the grid goes down.

Are you looking for an expert source of residential back up generator installation? You're not alone! Residential generators are crucial for various reasons, with one of the primary benefits being preparedness during power outages. In the face of unforeseen emergencies, such as severe weather, natural disasters, or grid failures, a residential generator acts as a lifeline, ensuring that essential appliances and systems like refrigeration, heating or cooling, medical equipment, and lighting continue to function. It provides a sense of security and comfort, especially for vulnerable individuals. Additionally, a generator safeguards your property from damage by preventing sump pump failures, frozen pipes, and food spoilage. We are the generator installer Point Roberts Washington has relied on since 2005.

WE INSTALL KOHLER STANDBY GENERATORS
POWER BACK IN ABOUT 10 SECONDS

When the grid drops, the automatic transfer switch disconnects your home from the utilityand the generator takes over. No extension cords, no pull-starts, nobody has to be home.

RUNS AS LONG AS THE OUTAGE

On natural gas or propane, a standby generator keeps going through multi-day windstorm and snow outages: heat, well
pump, sump pump, freezer and fridge, internet and medical equipment.

TWO WARRANTIES BEHIND IT

A Kohler factory warranty of at least 7 years on the generator, plus our own 1-year workmanship warranty on the installation.

Why Homeowners here buy a generator

Northwest outages aren't usually short. Windstorms bring trees down onto lines, and crews can take days to reach every road. In the December 17, 2025 windstorm, more than 140,000 PSE customers lost power at the peak.
‍
A battery handles most short outages beautifully. A generator is what keeps a home running when the outage outlasts the battery, especially in winter, when solar can't refill it.

Heat in a winter outage

Keep the furnace, heat pump, or boiler running so the house and the pipes stay warm.
Water and drainage

Well pumps and sump pumps don't stop when the power does. Neither should they.
Food and medicine

Fridge, freezer, and medical equipment that can't wait for the line crew.
Work and family

Internet, lights, cooking and laundry, so the house works like normal.
Rural and island homes

Long lines and ferry-dependent repairs mean longer outages. Propane works anywhere.
When you're away

It starts on its own, and Kohler's OnCue app lets you check on it from your phone.

how it works with swiftwater

A free estimate by phone or email

We look at your home's loads, your fuel (natural gas or propane), and whether a battery makes sense, before anyone visits.

2
Sized to your home

Essentials or whole home. We pick the Kohler model and transfer switch to match, not the biggest one on the truck.

3
Permits and installation

Pad, generator, transfer switch,
wiring and inspection, handled by our own licensed electricians. Gas or propane hookup coordinated.

4
Startup and app setup

We test a real outage, set the battery start and stop levels if you have one, and connect the monitoring app.

Generator Questions

What size generator do I need?

The homeowner tax credit ended, but businesses can still claim a federal clean-energy credit. Propel qualifies for it and passes that value to you as the discount.

Natural gas or propane?

On paper, Propel holds title for the first five years. That’s how it claims the federal credit and passes the savings to you. Day to day nothing changes: the power and the bill credits are yours from the day it turns on, and maintenance is covered. After year five it transfers to you at no extra cost.

I already have a battery. Can I add a generator?

Yes. Propel is set up with a loan, but you can pay it off in full right away with no prepayment penalty, so it works for cash buyers and financed buyers alike.

I already have a generator. Should I add a battery?

The loan can transfer to the buyer with a simple contract and a $250 transfer fee.

Does the generator need maintenance?

Yes, and it’s one of the best deals we offer. Propel takes a discount off Enphase batteries too, and it stacks with PSE’s battery rebates. Our example home, income-eligible under PSE Path A, gets a 10 kWh backup battery for less than a large latte a week. Other PSE homes still get up to $1,000 per battery (and up to $10,000 more in outage-prone areas), plus up to $300 a year for Flex events.

How loud is it?

Not every one. Propel is roof-mount only (no ground mounts), not for new construction, and needs credit approval. If it isn’t the right fit, we’ll show you our standard cash and financing options instead.
