Will we have a residential solar tax credit by year’s end?
H.R. 1 just passed the U.S. House could put an early end to the 30% federal tax credit for home solar.

The tax credit, known as the Residential Investment Tax Credit (ITC), is one of the best ways to save big on solar. But if this new legislation becomes law, it could be gone by December 31, 2025—not in 2032. What’s at Stake? If you install solar this year, the federal government covers 30% of the cost. That’s like the feds writing you a check for $6,000 on a $20,000 system, $9,000 on a $30,000 system, but under this proposed bill, those savings vanish at the end of the year unless your array is in service by the end of the year.
You'll be paying thousands more out-of-pocket if you wait. There's still time if you move quickly. To lock in your 30% credit, get your project quoted and designed soon!
- Start Permits and Contracts before Fall
- Try to get your system installed and operational before year's end
